Okay, so maybe he isn't quite yet! But Andy gets back this evening, and I'm SO happy! It's only been since Tuesday morning, but it's been an eventful 2 days, and I will welcome him back with open arms!

Lately I've been reading a lot of blogs, and wishing I could come up with other peoples' witticisms...The most frustrating part of it all is that I think I used to be clever, and am less so now. Maybe I need drugs to be clever? ...or maybe it's a lack of social involvement. In high school and college, I did a lot and spend my time with a LOT of different types of folk. It probably also helped that (nearly) all of them were intelligent people. Well, I'm glad Andy is incredibly smart...maybe I'll make him have some sort of serious, engaging conversation this evening. I'm sure he'll love that.

I've also decided to start phasing in new things in my wardrobe. I keep vowing to do more with solid colors, but then I get to the store and gravitate towards print...I'm working on that.

It would seem I'm just craving change in general....spring fever?

...All the better to sit on, my dear.

So...since Andy & I have started dating (14 months ago, wow!), I have gained nearly 20 pounds. This is completely not okay, so Operation Not Such A Fatass starts....tomorrow. I'm so good about eating healthy, but not so good about eating in moderation or keeping a regular workout schedule. Hopefully since I have admitted these problems, I'm taking the first step toward solving them.

Anyway, I think I've decide to return to the land of the blog. I always start to give it up when I know people aren't reading it, but then I remember that I enjoy it. I'm doing this for ME, not for you!

An old friend committed suicide yesterday. I can't understand what he must have felt like, but I am very saddened by all of it. It seems that everyone I know is sort of in a darker-than-usual place lately...I've even felt that way. I haven't felt depressed, but I've been thinking a lot lately about things I would have done differently given the opportunity, and also how I need to get out & make some friends! I wish I wasn't quite so poor, so I could make the CS & Burner gatherings...well, someday!

To make myself feel better, I created a Google spreadsheet (I'm a whore for Google Docs!) of things I want to accomplish in 2010. I think it's helped to clear my mind some. Establishing goals is the only way to achieve them.(:

Get outside & enjoy that sunshine today! I can't wait to get off work & do just that!

Fresh Feeling

You don't have a clue
What it is like to be next to you
I'm here to tell you
That it is good
That it is true

Birds singing a song
Old paint is peeling
This is that fresh
That fresh feeling

Words can't be that strong
My heart is reeling
This is that fresh
That fresh feeling

Try
Try to forget what's in the past
Tomorrow is here
Love,
Orange sky above lighting your way
There's nothing to fear

Birds singing a song
Old paint is peeling
This is that fresh
That fresh feeling

Words can't be that strong
My heart is reeling
This is that fresh
That fresh feeling

Some people are good
Babe in the 'hood
So pure and so free
I'd make a safe bet
You're gonna get whatever you need

Slip Slidin'

It seems I've fallen off the edge of the earth...whoops!

Wednesday, July 29, 2009

I just came up with that title randomly. Then I thought maybe I'd post some of my favorite blog entries I've read lately so it would make sense... Then I realized I haven't read any that were all that noteworthy.

Things to be excited about:

My birthday is in 9 days. WOOO!!! This means I get to see some out-of-towners I miss too.

Shark week is next week.

I got a new riding lawn mower. Andy says I look awesome on it. I think he only said that because I was wearing a see-through dress without a bra at the time. Or because me on the mower means that he's not mowing.

My parents got siding and got their pool fixed, so I now I shall swim swim swim!

I am going to the cider mill soon, and will eat apple cider donuts.

My sister has lost 20 pounds and is getting a promotion.

Andy will be back tomorrow

Tonight is dinner & drinks with J.

I got 125K on Bejeweled Blitz.

I will be getting cable & Internet at my house this weekend.

Well, that's all I can think of right now, but I'm an excited lady!

Pearl Jam Rock Band

Cool because fans get to pick the set list... Maybe not quite a FTW, since there IS a Beatles one coming soon, but... Ya know.

I need to get back into these games. I haven't played in too long. Tonight, in the absence of my other half, GH:WT here I come! :)

Lameassery.

I feel like a total lame-o. The only things I've posted about lately all pertain to my relationship drama, and that's pretty much boring and crappy. I have no real excuse for it, I don't suppose, outside the fact that my life has been fairly uneventful lately....that might actually be a total lie.

So after the Toadies concert, which was fucking awesome, came the weekend I went to Rockford for AMarie's bridal shower. It was a great weekend. Spent 2 consecutive nights at the 'Tudes, which by default makes it a great weekend! Plus it was just fun to take a road trip with the Mother Unit. We stopped at a winery on the way, and just dilly-dallied our way up there & back. The shower was really nice, and she claims they like the knives we got, so it's all good in the hood.

Then 2 weekends ago was the Beale Street Music Festival. We road tripped down to Memphis, where it proceeded to rain the entire weekend while we were at the outdoor music festival. That made it slightly unpleasant but only slightly. I like mud. And I love James Taylor. And Wet Willie's was everything Bill said it would be! Although Miami would have been a better setting for slushies than rainy Beale Street, but what can ya do!

This past Friday I saw Fleetwood Mac. It was a pretty awesome show. Stevie Nicks sort of wimped out of the high notes, which was disappointing, and they did a really awkward version of "Never Going Back Again", my favorite FM song. But Lindsey Buckingham is a GOD, and his awesomeness far overshadowed any of the disappointment I felt at times. Great show. After that we went to see a coworker in a Fleetwood Mac tribute band. They were great as well. I never thought I'd see an Asian Stevie Nicks! :-p The scene was pretty odd - it was a circus party...Satin swings above the bar & people in bizarre costumes. Fun though, once the crowd dissipated some!

Besides that, just did housework & saw my Mom and Grandma on Mother's Day. What's new in your lives?
